All 15 opposition state assemblymen staged a walkout barely 15 minutes into proceedings yesterday, claiming they had been sidelined in terms of questions.
Led by Anthony Loke Siew Fook (DAP-Lobak), they complained that their questions had been given the lowest priority and that they were not being allowed to ask supplementary questions.
"We sent a memorandum to the speaker, Datuk Razak Mansor, asking him why our questions had been put at the end of the order paper and that we be allowed to raise our supplementary questions in turn with the BN assemblymen.
"However, at the assembly yesterday, it was evident that our requests had fallen on deaf ears," he said at the lobby.
"We personally handed him (the speaker) our memorandum and were hopeful that there would be some kind of follow-up action.
"We just want equal treatment in the assembly. There are many issues which we need to highlight too."
He said opposition assemblymen were left with no choice but to resort to a walk-out as their requests had not been heard.
"It is clear that the speaker is biased and has no courage to make a decision on the matter," added Loke.
The DAP has 11 seats, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) three and Pas one in the state assembly.
