KOTA BARU: An assistant superintendent of police and an inspector, who were detained together with three lance corporals for extortion, are being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA).
A team of ACA officers was waiting for them at the Kelantan police contingent headquarters when they were released yesterday afternoon on police bail.
Sources said the five were taken to the ACA office at Wisma Persekutuan, next to the contingent headquarters, for investigation.
It is still uncertain whether they were being detained or taken in to give their statements.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi, when contacted, confirmed that the men had been released but investigation was continuing.
State ACA director director Mohd Jaafar Hussen when met after an ACA and secondary schools programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Putera here, declined to comment.
