PETALING JAYA: Five-month-old Aliya Damia Azmi was the centre of attention yesterday during a corporate event organised by Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd.
Her mother, Wan Hairulshifa Wan Zahari, came to the event to pick up her consolation prize in Litrak's poster drawing competition held in conjunction with the 51st Merdeka celebration.
But it was Aliya, the only baby there, who stole the limelight as guests at the event made a beeline for the cute baby dressed in a white dress and a pink-flowered hairband, clutching a stuffed toy.
"She gets really excited in a big event with lots of people fussing over her," said Wan Hairulshifa pinching Aliya's chubby cheeks.
Wan Hairulshifa usually takes Aliya to the office at the Sime Darby building in Subang Jaya where there is a nursery.
But today, the 26-year-old first made a stop at the Litrak building here to attend the prize-giving ceremony.
In keeping with the theme "Spirit of Unity" the graphic artist drew a circle of five Malaysians representing five communities in Malaysia.
The five represented the Malays, Chinese, Indians and tribes from Sabah and Sarawak, she said.
"I drew the people in a circle to show we are united as Malaysians."
Wan Hairulshifa has won many drawing competitions since her schooldays at SMK Grik in Perak.
"I still like to do colour pencil drawings although it appears to be a kiddie hobby. My favourite is drawing cartoons and people," she said.
Litrak gave out RM8,000 in prize money to winners of the competition which had two categories -- one for those aged between 12 and 17 and the other for those above the age of 18.
