Kedah MB: There'll be crossovers soon

ALOR STAR: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak claimed yesterday that a number of Kedah Barisan Nasional assemblymen would cross to the Pas-led state government soon.

Barisan Nasional has 14 assemblymen -- 12 from Umno and one each from MCA and Gerakan.

"I have received several inquiries via SMS from a few of them.

"One of them had actually SMS-ed me personally," he said.

Azizan, who is also Kedah Pas commissioner, refused to name the assemblymen.
Kedah BN chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid could not be contacted for comment. However, Derga state assemblyman Dr Cheah Soo Hai, of Gerakan, dismissed Azizan's claim.

"There is a vast difference in ideology between BN and the opposition, and the Pas-led state government is not performing up to mark. There's no way anyone of us would cross over," he said.

Gurun state assemblyman Dr Leong Yong Kong said Azizan was only spreading rumours.

The state government comprises 16 assemblymen from Pas, five from Parti Keadilan Rakyat and one from DAP.
