PUTRAJAYA: The nation seems to be divided on whether the use of English as the medium to teach mathematics and science in school, should be continued.

Education Ministry director-general education Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said that was the general indication after yesterday's discussion among several groups, including officers from the Prime Minister's Office and non-governmental organisations.

"The reaction so far was 50-50," he added. A decision will be made after the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah, at the end of the year.
