PUTRAJAYA: The public can expect a further reduction in fuel prices of up to 12 sen by the end of the month.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad said the government might reduce fuel prices again following the drop in the world crude oil price.
Speaking at the Prime Minister's Department's Hari Ra-ya open house here, Shahrir said the reduction, however, would not be more than 12 sen. He said the drop in crude oil price had become a subject of interest not only for city folk but also villagers.
He had said that the retail price of petrol could be lowered if the average world crude oil price for this month dipped below US$104 (RM364) per barrel.
On Sept 24, pump prices for petrol and diesel were reduced by 10 sen a litre to RM2.45 and RM2.40.
