GEORGE TOWN: Opposition members had a field day grilling state executive councillors over the "Kings of Tennis" fiasco during the Penang state assembly here yesterday.

The unfortunate exco member who bore the brunt of it was state Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Danny Law Heng Kiang (DAP-Batu Lanchang).

He was given a royal roasting despite his attempts to explain what led to the event's cancellation.

State Welfare and Caring Society Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh jumped to Law's aid.

He said the matter should be left to rest as a police report had been lodged. It would also be investigated by the state Public Accounts Committee.
