KLANG: An Indonesian illegal immigrant who posed as a Customs officer was charged in the Sessions Court yesterday with soliciting and receiving bribes.

Joni Efendi Duahmad, 36, pleaded guilty to soliciting RM10,000 from shop owner Peng Kim Sing, 61, as an inducement not to take action against him for possessing three bottles of unlicensed toddy on Oct 28; receiving a bribe of RM5,000 from Peng on Oct 28; and receiving another RM4,000 from the same person on Nov 8.

Judge Slamat Yahya fixed Nov 25 for sentencing.
