KUALA LUMPUR: Police recorded a statement from MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek yesterday in connection with his remarks on ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy) on Friday.
The former health minister said police questioned him for about 40 minutes at the Sunway police station.
Dr Chua had made a reference to Malay supremacy in his speech at the advertising industry's Kancil Awards ceremony on Friday.
He said they questioned his use of the term ketuanan Melayu.
He said his reference to ketuanan Melayu was in the context of power-sharing within Barisan Nasional component parties, adding his remarks had been taken out of context.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said they were recording Dr Chua's statement under the Sedition Act.
"We received two reports against him recently at the Sunway police station and the questioning is just part of the investigation procedure."
