THE shortage of policemen will be resolved after the rebranding of the Royal Malaysia Police is completed by 2011.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung said the number of policemen would be increased to 150,000 and more civilian staff would be recruited.
"The focus in the rebranding exercise is to go back to our core business, which is to prevent crimes," he said when replying to a question by Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh (BN-Kalabakan).
He said there would be one policeman to every 151 people, better than the Interpol ratio of 1 to 250.
