AARON Lim can feel a sense of pride even before he takes the yellow A1 Team Malaysia car out for its first spin for the start of the third A1GP weekend at the Sepang Circuit tomorrow.
His promise is it won't be something to be overlooked, as this is no ordinary Friday session.
It is one that will drum up the passion behind the home team's crusade, an extra dose of national pride they had stumbled upon by virtue of leading the championship.
"I'm feeling really good about this, I'm really excited and this is one session we can really show what the car is about," said Aaron.
And unlike any of the previous rounds Aaron has done Friday sessions for the team over the past year, this time he's set his sights on a top five ranking which would provide the inspiration the team require as they bid to end their home ground drought.
The 21-year-old's future has been subject of speculation, but this has been quashed by several negotiations currently on the cards to place Aaron in the Formula Three Euroseries next year.
"Yes, we're trying to get some deals together and we'll even be discussing some of that this weekend, but my whole focus is on giving Fairuz (Fauzy) and the team the head start they need," said Aaron.
As usual, Aaron will also be running the early weekend errands for the team, compiling sufficient data required for race driver Fairuz to take into qualifying and race day.
"It is a special weekend and our engineers have already prepared a few new things to test in the dry, which I will do on Friday (tomorrow). This is especially vital since Sepang will be the first proper race track where we can run the car to its limit."
Should predictions of a wet race weekend come true, the team have a fall-back plan to revert to the settings that fired them into the championship lead in Round One in Zandvoort (The Netherlands) last month.
"Everybody saw what Fairuz could do in the wet at Zandvoort, so we should be pretty confident with the base of the set-up we can have for a wet race. I guess it is all set, we've got a good plan and we just have to stay focused," Aaron added.
This weekend already looks set to build into A1 Team Malaysia's biggest moment to date, what with them firmly in the championship lead by five points over France and Ireland and oozing confidence. All they need now is for that famous sea of yellow to get behind them and fire up the stands at Sepang.
