NATIONAL junior Ivan Yuen toppled top seed Mike Corren of Australia for the second time in a week in the quarter-finals of the NSC Super Satellite No 4 tournament at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
Ivan, 18, proved his win over Corren, a top-40 player in 2004, at the NSC Super Satellite No 3 tournament last week was no fluke with an 11-6, 6-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-8 win in 50 minutes.
Second seed Asyraf Azan lived up to his billing by reaching the last four after winning his quarter-final against fellow national back-up squad player Elvinn Keo 5-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-9.
Low Wee Wern (right) enhanced her prospect of claiming a second Wispa Tour title by beating national junior teammate Zulhijjah Azan 11-1, 11-5, 10-12, 11-3 for a semi-final meeting with Australian junior rival Melody Francis.
Melody, who stunned Malaysian second seed Lim Yoke Wah on Tuesday, was too strong for national junior Tan Yan Xin, winning 11-7, 11-5, 11-5.
Siti Munirah Jusoh was the fourth Malaysian to advance when the fourth seed dominated her match against national junior Pushppa Devi 11-5, 11-8, 11-1 and faces top seed Joshna Chinappa of India next.
