FOUR orphanages have been identified as the first recipients of proceeds from the inaugural GolfUnite charity tournament at the Seri Selangor Golf Club on Dec 18.
GolfUnite is a collaboration between SportsUnite Sdn Bhd, GolfPeople Sdn Bhd and friends who conceived this golfing event to bring Malaysians together. GolfUnite is targeting to raise a minimum of RM10,000 that will be divided equally and passed on to Asrama Darul Falah-Perkim, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, Agathians Shelter and the Gurpuri Foundation.
GolfUnite is a four-man team event where the best three stableford scores based on modified system 36 will count.
Entrance fee is RM760 per team and each team must comprise a minimum of two races, but it would be perfect if a team is made up of three different races.
Corporations can donate more to the charities when they enter a team by paying RM1,500. In return one of the 18 holes will be named after them by way of a signage with their logo. The organisers are anticipating 25 teams or 100 golfers to sign up.
Dato' Dina Rizal of SportsUnite and GolfPeople's Joe Carlos agreed at a press conference yesterday that the timing was right to come up with a unique event to enhance racial harmony.
Entry forms can be obtained from www.sportsunite.com.my or fax payments to 03-78036226. For more information call 012-2323275 or 019-3255674.
