BACK in the Stone Age, feet were covered with “foot bags” of leather to protect them from environment and the elements. Now, shoes not only protect our feet, but also complete our fashion statement to the world.
Crocs ranks as one of the brands that has made an impact in the world of footwear.
The brand has certainly made its mark in the country. You’d most likely find at least one person in a shopping mall wearing a pair of Crocs.
The Fall/Winter Collection 2008, launched recently, introduces six new models — Lena, Juneau, Nanook, Nahani, Lexi and Viking.
Juneau and Nanook are the women’s range while Nahani and Lexi are for young girls. Viking is the men’s range.
Lena is a 3.25-inch heel and is expected to be a hit following its “siblings’” successes, Sassari and Cyprs. Lena is available in black, brown and bronze for women, from sizes four to 10. This range is in the market for RM189.
Tagged as chic and comfortable, Juneau is a new take on the classic flat with fun elastic detailing.
The rubber outsole provides superior and long-lasting grip. It is available in sizes four to 12 in a combination of colours: berry and charcoal, black and silver, brown and khaki, gold and brown, navy and glacier, as well as in silver and charcoal. Juneau is priced at RM139.
Those who are looking for more details in their Crocs will find them in the Nanook range. It has a synthetic fur line inspired by the slim ballerina pump and is available in berry, black, bronze, brown, cotton candy, gold and grape. Nanook is priced at RM169.
Young girls, too, get to spice up their shoe collection with the Nahani and Lexi models.
Nahani sneakers are designed to be sporty and come with a contrasting colour rubber strap tongue for more comfort.
Lexi, on the other hand, is the interpretation of the classic Mary Jane design. It comes with an elastic strap, and looks best when paired with a flower Jibbitz charm on the side. Both ranges are priced at RM139.
Just like its name, the Viking range presents masculinity.
Men will feel comfortable walking in this as it has been designed with an innovative heel and long-lasting two-piece rubber outsole. With its street style design and easy slip in and out feature, it is also an alternative to sneakers. Viking is priced at RM169.
According to Crocs Asia Pte Ltd regional sales manager Ellen Flores, Crocs is well-known for its Croslite feature, which is a closed-cell resin. It is a vital component to ensure Crocs shoes are soft, comfortable, lightweight, odour-resistant with superior-gripping and non-marking.
“Crocs has been doing extremely well in Malaysia as well as in the Southeast Asia region. The best part about the shoes is that it is suitable for all family members,” Flores added.
Crocs footwear is suitable for casual wear and recreational activities such as boating, hiking and gardening.
In conjunction with the launch, a short video competition called “Thanks Heavens for Crocs” was also launched.
The grand prize is RM10,000. The competition will run from Oct 16 till Nov 15.
The company also handed over a cheque of RM32,000 to Paws Animal Welfare Society after a three-month fundraising campaign it organised for the non-profit animal shelter at the Pilmoor Estate in Subang Airport Road.
