CROSS-OVERS: Quit your seat if you defect

THE rumours about some politicians, especially in Sabah and Sarawak, crossing over to the opposition alliance have been making the rounds for some time now.

I have always disliked politicians who defect from one party to another without taking into account the wishes of their constituents who had voted them into office in the first place.

Although they claim they are able to serve the people better after defecting, many will still consider them unscrupulous and opportunistic.

Hence, the opposition alliance should never welcome this sort of people into their fold, whether or not their crossing-over can bring about a change in the federal government.

Having people who cross over to bring about a change in the government is tantamount to coming into power through the back door.
There is no justification for this; it is similar to committing fraud and is utterly shameful.

Those who are intent on crossing over should have the decency to vacate their seats and seek a fresh mandate from their constituents.
