SHAH ALAM: Instant messaging and live streaming of proceedings will be available during the 12th state legislative assembly which starts today.
State Welfare, Women Affairs, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Rodziah Ismail said executive councillors would be able to communicate with each other and their heads of department instantly during the assembly.
She said unlike in Parliament, written questions and answers no longer had to be physically passed between the exco members and civil servants in the state assembly.
"This will expedite proceedings and improve efficiency."
Exco members will be able to share ideas and support each other during debates while taking supplementary questions.
Rodziah said the public was mature enough to view the entire proceedings, which will be aired live over the state government's web portal at http://www.selangor.gov.my.
Proceedings will be broadcast for fours days (from Wednesday to Friday and on Monday).
"The public can judge for themselves the quality of their elected representatives."
She said the live coverage would also compel exco members to do their homework.
"The assembly will definitely be lively with 20 Barisan Nasional opposition members in the house."
The dissolution of the Wives of Selangor Assemblymen and MPs Welfare and Charity Organisation and the RM27 million annual allocations for small projects which was spent by BN assemblymen prior to the March 8 general election are expected to be among the hot topics to be debated.
