ALOR STAR: An Umno branch here was effectively dissolved yesterday after all its members announced their resignation from the party.

Kampung Sri Tanjung branch chief Baharudin Mahmood made the announcement last night that 250 members, including its 20 committee members, had resigned.

He said the members had been mulling the move for a while.

Baharudin said the former members would not join any other political party and would return to Umno once there was a change in leadership.

The branch is under the Pokok Sena Umno division, whose chief Datuk Ahmad Lebai Sudin said he was not aware of the matter.
He appealed to those who resigned to reconsider their decision.
