PETALING JAYA: The woman, whose torso was found in a monsoon drain by the Federal Highway on Monday had been strangled to death.

The post-mortem conducted at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital also revealed that the woman was not raped.

Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Arjunaidi Mohamed said police were waiting for the DNA test results to ascertain if a severed right leg found in Salak South Garden belonged to the victim.

"We have not found any other body parts yet," Arjunaidi said.

"It will take time before we receive the DNA results to ascertain if the body parts belong to the same victim."
Police have yet to identify the victim. It was also revealed that no one had come forward looking for a lost relative.

On Sunday, the leg of a woman was found in a rubbish bin in Salak South Garden.

The torso was found the following day.

The post-mortem revealed that the torso was that of a woman between the ages of 20 and 30.

The victim was believed to have been dead less than 24 hours before the body part was found.

There were no visible injuries on the torso, but the hands, legs and head were severed.

Police urged those with information to contact the nearest police station immediately.
