KUANTAN: Datuk Ahmad Tajuddin Sulaiman will defend his post as Paya Besar divisional chief in October.

The former state Umno liaison secretary, who made headlines when he quit his state post in April over the party's poor performance at the general election, said he wanted to continue serving the people of Paya Besar.

Ahmad Tajuddin, who had later asked Umno supreme council members to resign en bloc, took over the divisional chief's post from former menteri besar Tun Khalil Yaakob in 2002.

The Lepar state assemblyman, who was dropped in the general election, is expected to be challenged by his vice-chairman, Datuk Manan Ismail, who is also Paya Besar MP.
