Competitors celebrate after the carnival.

SPORTSUNITE'S effort to promote unity through sports continued last weekend with the help of the Malaysian Paralympic Lawn Bowlers Association (MPLBA) where for the first time a lawn bowls carnival was held involving the able bodied and paralympic bowlers in a 'mixed fours' event that saw 20 teams competing.

Each team comprised two able bodied and two paralympic lawn bowlers of two different races, and competitors came from as far as Penang, Kelantan and Johor.

Datuk Dina Rizal, executive director of SportsUnite who mooted the idea with the secretary general of the Malaysian Paralympic Lawn Bowlers Association, Mohd Nor Kassim, said: "There are no winners or losers in this carnival as all are winners in promoting the spirit of unity, friendship and intergration."

A round robin draw was made to ensure all played the maximum number of games.

The secretary of MPLBA expressed the hope that this carnival will become an annual affair with bigger participation next year.

The top four teams in the gold, silver and bronze categories were presented with medals and Milo hampers.
