KOTA KINABALU: Disgruntled Parti Keadilan Rakyat leaders Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and Christina Liew have spelt our their conditions for remaining in the party.
Kitingan and Liew conveyed this to a team sent by PKR headquarters in an apparent attempt to prevent the two as well as 14 other divisional leaders from leaving the party in protest against some recent decisions in the state.
Among those in the team were PKR director of strategy Tian Chua, the party adviser from Sarawak, Michael Bong and local leaders such as Datuk Nahalan Damsal, Datuk John Ghani and Awang Amin Tengah.
"I have said what I wanted to say and it is up to them to decide," said Kitingan.
He, however, declined to disclose his demands during the two-hour meeting at his residence in Luyang.
Liew, a founding member of the party in the state, was tearful when approached just after the meeting ended.
"I look at it positively because we told them what we want if they want us to continue serving the party.
"Now we have to wait for what the leadership have to say, but they need to resolve this quickly," said Liew, who heads the PKR division here where she has also set up a Public Complaints Bureau.
Tian Chua said he would bring up the outcome of the meeting with the national leadership.
