Pamper: This spa’s cool!

2009/07/10

SU AZIZ

SU AZIZ gets wet to beat the heat wave, thanks to the ‘rain mist’ treatment.
THE current scorching weather has had me craving for spas that refresh and cool me down like nothing else can — water treatments!

And I found such a place right smack in the middle of our capital city at the award-winning Angsana Spa in Crowne Plaza hotel on Jalan Sultan Ismail.

Read on to discover what it had to offer:

Raja Rain Mist Treatment

FIRST of all, be ready to get soaking wet. This two-hour session costs RM280 and entails:

• having your feet soaked and cleaned

• a 10-minute steam bath (the “rain mist”)

• 15 minutes of body polishing

• a 10-minute “rain shower”

• an hour-long body massage

• a refreshing drink of ginger tea and a fruit platter to feast on

The Rain Mist room is basically a combination of a sauna and steam room, although it’s not as hot as a sauna.

I found the warm mist rather invigorating — all I had to do was lie on a massage table in the middle of the room and allow the mist to open up my pores.

The fragrant body polish of jasmine and frangipani is designed for oily skin, polishing your body until your skin positively sparkles!

Then comes the rain shower, which not only washed off the body scrub but gently “kneaded” my whole body. I felt alive and revitalised as a result.

Finally, I was given an Asli massage.

Firm and done with long strokes, the massage is unique to this spa as it combines the Malay and Thai method of using thumbs and palms to knead the body.

It concentrates mainly on all our problematic areas, namely, the shoulders, neck and back.

The Angsana Ambience

THE Angsana Spa in Kuala Lumpur comprises 12 indoor single treatment rooms, two indoor double treatment rooms, four indoor single facial rooms, two outdoor spa pavilions and two Rainmist rooms.

The garden around the hotel spa is landscaped and filters out the noise from the traffic below. Plus, the taller shrubs give spa guests some privacy in the midst of the city’s skyscrapers.

As a result, it’s one of the prettiest city spas I’ve been to.

The massages, which also cater to men, start from RM210, with facials costing RM200 onwards.

The treatment packages are priced from RM210 for 90 minutes to RM350 for 150 minutes.
