TRENDS: Best combination yet

2009/08/21

APPLE is giving consumers more reasons to love the iPhone. The company’s latest version of the already much-loved device, the iPhone 3GS, comes packed with stuff its predecessor, the iPhone 3G, lacked.

The iPhone 3GS addresses two key features missing on the iPhone 3G — video camera and support for multimedia messaging service (MMS).

The phone is supported by the new iPhone operating system 3.0 which comes with more than 100 new features such as cut, copy and paste, MMS, Spotlight Search and landscape keyboard.
Some claim it to be the best combination yet of a phone, music player and Internet device. With a multi-touch interface, users can just tap a name or number on the contact list to make a call. The phone’s 3.5-inch display also makes it easy to browse and view contents such as music, movies, TV shows and pictures.
The iPhone 3GS is twice as fast as the iPhone 3G. It offers a swift 3G and WiFi connection to access email and maps with GPS as well as to surf the Internet with the Safari browser.

Multi-tasking is not an issue with the iPhone 3GS. Users can make a call while emailing or surfing the Web.

iPhone 3GS owners can also have access to more than 50,000 applications from Apple’s App Store.

The iPhone 3GS is now available from Maxis Communications Bhd.
Maxis is offering the iPhone 3GS 16GB for RM1,290 and iPhone 3G 8GB at RM790, with a plan that comes with a monthly commitment of RM155 and a 24-month contract.
It also has the Maxis Easy Payment Scheme which allows users to buy the iPhone 3GS interest-free over 12- or 24-month periods.
With the two-year easy payment scheme, you can own an iPhone 3G 8GB for RM60 per month, iPhone 3GS 16GB for RM80 per month and iPhone 3GS 32GB for RM100 per month.
