READ: Constituting Who’s Who

2009/10/10

SU AZIZ

SU AZIZ literally trips over a very thick book that lists down prominent Malaysian personalities.

Malaysia, Who’s Who, Constitution, Government & Politics (2009) approximately 1,600 pages published by Kasuya Management Sdn Bhd (hard cover) THIS one’s definitely a doorstopper of a book — coming in second only to the Encyclopedia Britannica! Jokes aside, it’s a useful reference on who’s who in our society. Now, to break it down a little, the 1,600-something pages in this book consists of: ● approximately 500 pages of listings of our rulers, government and politics, legislature and the judiciary.

● more than 1,000 pages of biodata and photos of the personalities (or personages) — from politicians, economists, actors and athletes.

● a couple of hundred pages of indices of our constitution and personages.

In the biodata are their education and professional backgrounds, along with where they currently live. All arranged conveniently, in alphabetical order.

As to how these people are deemed worthy to be included in the book, well, if you go through the list of their achievements, you’d understand why.

The likes of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the late Tan Sri Dr Noordin Sopiee, Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Datuk Nicol David and Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, you have to admit, are quite incomparable.

This is the fifth edition and the latest updated version by Kasuya. The last one was published in 2007. This is available in Kinokuniya and selected MPH stores around Klang Valley for RM990.

Though it may not be a book that one might open idly, it certainly is worthy of a space on your bookshelf and updated every once in a while.

Should you fail to grab this current copy from the bookstores, contact kasuyamanagement@gmail.com for a copy.
