DIRECTOR Helena Foo presents A Grimm Fairy Tale at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPaC) in Sentul Park, Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur from Oct 29 to Nov 1.
She has decided to put the Grimm Brothers’ famous “happily ever after” endings to the test in this play which sees lots of theatre and film projection.
A Grimm Fairy Tale weaves three of the Grimm Brothers’ popular tales — Little Red Cap (or Riding Hood) And Her Wolf Encounter, Rapunzel And Her Prince and Hansel And Gretel Battling The Witch.
The characters are placed amidst a cleverly built virtual setting.
The play presents a more urban take on these stories while also playing around with the theme of illusion-versus-reality.
Performed with only a screen as its backdrop, this production will push the limits of the stage to give fairy tale fans a fresh, new look at their beloved stories. The cast consists of Lex Balakrishnan, Claudia Low, Nur Zakuan, Gabriella Robinson, Capri Chin, Oliver Johanan and Seshadri Kalimuthu.
Time: 8.30pm and 3pm (Nov 1 and extra show on Oct 31).
Tickets: RM33, RM23 (senior citizens) and RM18 (students and the handicapped).
Dress up for Halloween Night on Oct 31 and win A Grimm Fairy Tale goodie bag.
