Update Facebook via SMS

2009/10/10

ARE you always in a hurry to get to the nearest PC to log into your Facebook account?

Do you feel the need to constantly refresh your Facebook profile and find out what your friends have posted? If “yes”, here’s a solution from Celcom that will keep you connected to Facebook even when you don’t have access to a computer. The Facebook SMS service is the first in Malaysia which targets those who don’t have smart phones to access Facebook while on the go. Users need only have a basic mobile device with SMS capability to enjoy this service. Celcom is offering this service at RM1 a week with unlimited SMS use and access to the mobile Facebook account. The service allows users to send and receive messages, update Facebook status, receive and give comments, write wall posts, receive and give pokes, and all other relevant Facebook applications.

Users will also receive notifications on updates via SMS. However, if you don’t want too many notifications via SMS, you can take control by customising the settings in the Mobile tab in Facebook.

To subscribe to this Facebook service via SMS, those with a Facebook account need to type “F” and send to 32665. A confirmation code will then be sent.

To log into the Facebook account, click on the SETTINGS link followed by the MOBILE tab, and key in the confirmation code. Visit www.channelx.com.my for details on this service. — By CHANDRA DEVI RENGANAYAR
