LEGENDARY American R&B star Roberta Flack serenades fans at Hilton Kuala Lumpur on Oct 30.
Her showcase Roberta Flack Killing Me Softly ... Live, which begins at 8pm, is presented by JS Concerts.
The elegant and soulful Flack is famous for classics such as Feel Like Makin' Love, Where Is The Love, Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You (with Peabo Bryson) and Set The Night To Music (with Maxi Priest).
Her The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face and Killing Me Softly With His Song both won Grammy Awards for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Vocals.
Flack hails from North Carolina and was an early fan of the legendary Sam Cooke.
During her teens, she also played classical piano and studied music in Howard University. She subsequently became an assistant conductor of her university choir and also directed a musical.
Flack also became the first African-American teacher at an all-Caucasian school in Maryland.
She has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of the United States as well as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra of Australia.
From 1995 to 1998, she hosted a weekly radio show Brunch With Roberta Flack. In 1999 she received a star on Hollywood's Walk Of Fame.
