SECOND seeds Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong had to slog for victory while World No 6 Zakry Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari were surprisingly shown the exit in the second round of the Denmark Open on Thursday.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong, the World No 2, came from a game down to overcome Indonesia's Yonatan Suryatama Dasuki-Rian Sukmawan 16-21, 21-19, 21-19.
The former All England champions are hoping to nail their fourth title of the year, after the Swiss Open, Malaysian Gold Grand Prix and Macau Grand Prix, in Odense.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong were playing Denmark's Lars Paaske-Jonas Rasmussen, who defeated Indonesia's Muhd Ahsan-Bona Septano 21-1, 21-10 in the second round, in a late quarter-final match yesterday.
Meanwhile, unseeded Danish pair Kasper Henriksen-Anders Kristiansen played an excellent game to stun fourth seeds Zakry-Fairuzizuan 14-21, 21-17, 21-19 in 49 minutes.
In the women's doubles, top seeds Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui defeated Denmark's Line Kruse-Mie Schjott-Kristensen 21-16, 22-20 in 38 minutes.
The World No 2 were playing China's Pan Pan-Zhang Yawen, who defeated Scotland's Emma Mason and England's Heather Olver 21-16, 21-7, in a late quarter-final match yesterday.
