HAYATI NORDIN, Subang Jaya
MANGO uncle's case is sad. The fact that it took so long for Choong Yik Sheng's case to be resolved does not speak well of our system.
It is tragic that we are prepared to consider the plight of those who renounced their citizenship to seek better lives elsewhere but find that they are not accepted as citizens in their adopted countries.
Those who renounced their citizenship are a disloyal lot and deserve no sympathy.
Yet there are stateless people like "mango uncle" who toiled, remained loyal and hoped that their dream of citizenship would materialise.
We have high hopes that in Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Razak's administration, this state of inertia will be reduced, if not eliminated.
