Witness missing, two accused discharged

Two men who were charged with seven counts of receiving RM58,442 in bribes were granted a discharged not amounting to an acquittal by the Shah Alam Sessions court today after the main witness failed to turn up in court for the trial.

G. Suntheresan, 41, and R. Ganeson, 42, from Panasonic AVC Kuala Lumpur (M) Sdn Bhd were alleged to have received the bribe from Yeap Chooi Peng, 54, an owner of Top A Plastics Sdn Bhd, as an inducement to continue allowing Yeap to supply plastic moulding components to PAVC between Jan 4, 2001 and Sept 5, 2002.

Today was supposed to be their trial but Yeap, the main witness, failed to be subpoenaed.

Judge Syafeera Mohd Said was also informed that this was the fourth hearing date fixed, all of which, the witness could not be subpoenaed.
