Police to take stern action against football fans carrying dangerous objects

2009/11/05

KUALA LUMPUR: Police today issued a stern warning against footballs fans who carried dangerous objects during the Malaysia Cup final match between Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic and Public Order department head ACP Abdul Hamid Mohd Ali said dangerous weapons included explosives, helmets, sticks, bottles, can drinks, umbrella or any other sharp objects.

"We will screen every individual and their bags upon entering the stadium. And if we find any forbidden objects, police will not compromise and action will be taken according to the law," he told reporters here today.

He added that 1,400 police personnel, including traffic police, Federal Reserve Unit (FRU), General Action Force (PGA) and CIDs will be on duty in and around the stadium.

Abdul Hamid said, to avoid untoward incidents or confrontation between fans of the two states, police have designated the green gate entry point for Kelantan fans and the blue gate entry (next to National Sports Council) for Negeri Sembilan fans.

All buses carrying Kelantan fans are required to use the Kesas Highway and use the Awan Kecil exit to Jalan Games Village, turn left into Jalan Cagar Merah and head to 'F' Parking.

Buses carrying Negeri Sembilan fans which use the Seremban-KL highway, are required to enter the Kesas Highway and enter Jalan Merah Cagar to Jalan Merah Cagar and proceed to the Family Park parking lots.

All other vehicles, including those of fans from both states can enter the Kesas Highway, exit at Awan Kecil to Jalan Games Villages and onwards to Jalan West to reach 'A' and 'B' parking lots.

"Those using the Seremban-KL Highway can also go through the Selangor Turf Club round-about, head towards Puchong and make a U-turn at Technology Park to Jalan Puchong Links and park at 'D' and 'E' parking lots," he said.

He added that police would also close a number of roads leading to the stadium, especially Jalan Putra/Jalan West from 4pm on Saturday.

"The Kesas Highway/Jalan Merah Cagar exit from Carrefour and from MRR2 will be closed based on the situation of traffic. Jalan Puchong Links/Jalan West exit from Kinrara and Jalan Puchong Links/Jalan West exit from the Selangor Turf Club round-about will also be closed," he said. - Bernama
