Second mention of Kugan's case on Dec 3

2009/11/05

PETALING JAYA: The Sessions Court here today set Dec 3 for second mention on the case of A. Kugan, who died while in police custody, to enable the prosecution to hand over all documents pertaining to the case.

Judge Aslam Zainuddin set the date after the defence, led by Raj Pal Singh, told the court that his team had yet to receive several documents pertaining to the case.

The prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Abazafree Mohd Abbas, had no objection to the request.

On Oct 1, a constable from the Subang USJ Police Station, V. Navindran, 28, pleaded not guilty at the same court to two counts or causing grievous hurt to Kugan.

Kugan, 22, was detained by police on Jan 15 this year on suspicion of being involved in car thefts but died several days later while being remanded at the police station. - Bernama
