Man stabs woman to death

ALOR SETAR: A 70-year-old woman was stabbed to death by a man at her house in Kampung Kuala Sungai near here today.

Bedah Ali, who had a stab wound in her abdomen, died on the spot in the incident at noon.

Her stepson, Ismail Hashim, 60, said he saw a man arguing with Bedah when he stopped by her house at 11.50am on the way back from the town.

"The man drew a knife from his waist and stabbed my step-mother," Ismail told reporters at the scene.

Ismail said the man stabbed Bedah once and was about to stab her again but he managed to prevent him from doing so.

The man then ran away but Ismail and another villager caught him and handed him over to the police.

Kota Setar police chief ACP Abdul Ghafar Rajab confirmed the incident and said an 80-year-old man was helping in the investigation into the case. - Bernama
