KUALA LUMPUR: A lecturer has to postpone his trip to United Kingdom (UK) after the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) failed to inform the Immigration Department that his name had been removed from the blacklist.
The lecturer who wanted to be known only as Omar, 27, also had to pay a fine of RM1050 to the airline for the postponement.
"I contacted PTPTN two weeks ago and was told that my name had been cleared. However, during check-in at KLIA on Friday, I was stopped by immigration as I was still on the blacklist," he told Bernama here today.
Omar was supposed to leave for UK at 11.55pm on Friday to study for Phd at the University of Nottingham. It was postponed to tomorrow.
He blamed PTPTN for being inefficient and wanted to claim about RM2,000 being travelling cost by his family
from Johor Baharu to Kuala Lumpur.
The PTPTN management could not be contacted. - Bernama
