The flood situation in Kedah worsens today with the number of evacuees having increased to 1,062 people from 255 families.
A state flood operations room spokesman said 13 flood relief centres had been opened in three districts, comprising six centres each in Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu, and one in Padang Terap." The Kubang Pasu district recorded the highest number of flood evacuees, totalling 711 people from 158 families," he added.
He said the number of flood victims in the Kota Setar district was 314 from 89 families, while in Padang Terap, 37 people from eight families were still at a relief centre.
As at 11am today, only Sungai Pantai Johor is still above the danger level at 2.3m (the danger level is 2m), he added. -- BERNAMA
