ALOR SETAR: There has been a drop in the number of flood victims recorded at four districts in Kedah.
There were 1,352 victims recorded today, as compared to 1,558 yesterday evening.
Despite this, a state flood operations room spokesman said the water level at Sungai Pantai Johor had exceeded the danger level (2 metres) by 0.24 metres, while other rivers recorded cautious levels.
In KUANTAN, the state government has prepared 588 temporary flood relief centres to cater to 127,144 victims to face the imminent flood crisis next month in the state.
State disaster committee chairman Datuk Muhammad Safian Ismail said the floods were expected to hit several areas in Pahang between Dec 15 and Jan 15.
He said, in relation to that, leave and courses for the state police, firemen, Royal Malaysian Air Force, medical and local authorities would be frozen during the period. -- Bernama
