Bridge collapse report to be tabled in Dewan Rakyat on Dec 7

KUALA LUMPUR: The report on the collapse of the suspension bridge across Sungai Kampar, Perak, which caused the drowning of three pupils last month, will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on December 7.
Deputy Education Minister Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said the report would be tabled by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Education Minister.
"The report is ready. We are now just waiting for a report from the Public Works Department," he told reporters after officiating at the soft launch of the International Book Fair, here, today.
On the legal suit filed by the parents of the victims against the teachers and the ministry''s staff, he said: "We will defend them. I think they have done their best to try to save the pupils."
In the 10.30pm incident on Oct 26, Dina Deve a/p Nathan, Diryasree a/p Vasudevan and Davadharshini a/p Maheswaran drowned after they fell into the river when the bridge at the Kinta South District Education Office''s co-curriculum centre in Kuala Dipang, Kampar collapsed. - Bernama
