Student Sharmeen wins crown

GEORGE TOWN: Mass communications student Sharmeen Looi Mee Leng was crowned Miss Penang Times Square here on Sunday night. Looi, 21, beat 14 other finalists to take home a cash voucher and product prizes worth RM5,000, a crown and a sash.

"I am happy to have won this contest. This is truly a significant day for me and I want to thank my family for their support," said Looi, who was also winner in the Miss D'Piazza 2009 pageant.

The first runner-up was school-leaver Laureen Quah Ming Hui, 18. She walked away with a cash voucher and product prizes worth RM3,000.

She also grabbed the Miss Fitness title and took home a Kelv Concept cash voucher worth RM500.

Internal accounts manager Jesslyn Soon Lay Cheng, 25, the second runner-up, won a cash voucher and product prizes worth RM2,000.

Model Rowena Ann won the Miss Photogenic subsidiary title while student Jesslynn Oon Hui Ying took home the Miss Crowning Glory title.
