Nails and bullets fail to stop cops

2009/11/07

KUANTAN: In a desperate attempt to escape arrest, two suspected robbers threw nails on the road and even fired two shots at a pursuing police patrol car early yesterday.

Policemen on patrol approached the suspects who were parked near a petrol station at 4.15am. The men then threw nails on the ground and sped off.

When that didn't slow down the police the men fired two shots and the policemen returned fire.

The chase ended at Kampung Budaya in Cherating where shots were exchanged before the two escaped on foot.

Deputy state police chief Datuk Sharifuddin Abdul Ghani said one suspect was captured at noon with a gunshot wound on the shoulder.

The man was warded at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital while a search was still on for his accomplice.
