KLANG: Klang Pakatan Rakyat leaders want Port Klang assemblyman Badrul Hisham Abdullah to vacate his seat so voters can choose a new assemblyman.
Klang Pas commissioner Ismail Arsat said Badrul Hisham's decision on Thursday to quit Parti Keadilan Rakyat and become an independent assemblyman was against the principles of democracy.
Ismail said it was a selfish decision because Badrul Hisham placed no importance on the people's aspirations.
He said the Port Klang assemblyman only wanted to live a life of luxury without working hard for the post.
"In the time Badrul Hisham has held the post, he has neglected his duties to represent the people and fulfil their needs and wishes.
"We are the ones who have carried out his responsibilities, without any funds or assistance, just on the basis of our concern for the people of Port Klang," he said yesterday.
Ismail said Badrul Hisham's decision to quit PKR was a betrayal of the people of Port Klang as the voters there did not choose him for his personality as an individual but because of the PR manifesto.
"In more than one year as an elected representative, he did nothing for the people and did not attend many of the programmes arranged in his area.
"The state government has taken control of the constituency allocation only in the past few months. Before that the funds never reached the people."
He claimed Badrul Hisham had spent more than RM200,000 since early this year, but it was unclear what the money was spent on.
