Nik Aziz: Kelantan fans have no sporting spirit

2009/11/09

KOTA BARU: Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat yesterday chided the state's football supporters for their unsporting behaviour following the state team's 1-3 defeat to Negri Sembilan in the Malaysia Cup final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday night.

Nik Aziz said the state team members had given their best, but they could not be expected to win all their matches.

"The fans should accept the defeat but they have no sporting spirit. This problem never cropped up whenever the team won their games.

"The players had tried their best but still lost. We cannot expect the team to win every game as even the sun sets but it will rise again," he said when met at his home in Pulau Melaka here yesterday.

The Kelantan team had earlier this season been banned from playing at the Sultan Mohamed IV Stadium in Kota Baru because of the unruly behaviour of their fans.
