Malaysia-Korea in s-finals

MALAYSIA will play South Korea in the semi-finals of the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup in Yangon, Myanmar today.

K. Dharmaraj's boys look to have the edge as they only lost one match -- to Pakistan-- in the group stages. Pakistan meet Japan in their other semi-final.

Malaysia, after beating India 3-2 on Tuesday, were trailing Pakistan by two goals on Wednesday but drew level, and then took the lead.

All three goals were scored by Faizal Shaari, who flew in just in time for the Pakistan match after playing against New Zealand in the World Cup Qualifiers in Invercargill.

However, Pakistan centre-forward Arsalan Qadir struck a brace to win 4-3 and top Group A.

"I feel we should be able to beat Korea, and have a re-match with Pakistan in the final." said Dharmaraj when contacted. The final is on Sunday with the champions qualifying for the Youth Olympics in Singapore in August.
