KUALA LUMPUR: What started off as a password quickly became a living, breathing party animal that continues to fly the clubbing banner until today.

It all began in 1995 when Trace Harris, the resident percussionist of the Ministry of Sound and girlfriend Claire White hosted a party on London’s Temple Pier Yacht. “Smartie Partie” was the password to gain entry to the event. Two hundred people showed up and they rocked the boat till the early hours. After that hit, there was just no turning back.

Trace went on to host a string of sensational underground parties in London, including the one at the Ministry where 800 people turned up, and Smartie Partie (SP) was quickly established as an unstoppable phenomenon in its own right. As a promotion for London’s greatest clubs comprising house DJs spinning tribal, tech, electro and funk enhanced by dancers and live percussion, SP has electrified every major club in over 25 countries across the world in the 12 years of its existence.

Among the DJs schedule to perform are Alex Miles, Lisa German, Matty Wells, Ramone and percussionist Trace Harris.

The Smartie Partie World Tours 2008 will kick-off on Dec 19-20 at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian, Polo Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur from 6pm.
