BBSA B emerge champs in NSTP hockey meet

Print Article Email Article

KUALA LUMPUR: BBSA B captured the NSTP nine-a-side hockey inter-department championships, by beating Metro e-Media 4-1 in an exciting final at the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Stadium last weekend.

Metro stunned their more illustrious opponents by taking the lead through Bazly Azmi in the first half. With that goal, Bazly proved that he's not only a great hockey writer, attached with the Metro sports desk, but also a person who is exceptionally good with the stick.

However, BBSA B, led by several experienced players, showed their mettle in the second half by sounding the board four times against the tiring Metro side, led by Manan Samad.

Yunos Osman and K.Jayakumar scored a brace each to ensure victory for BBSA B. Advertising took third place while BBSA A finished fourth.

Jayakumar was the tournament's top scorer with five goals. The NST editorial team failed to advance to the semifinals round but were awarded the Fairplay trophy.

Results: 1 BBSA B, 2 Metro e-Media, 3 Advertising, 4 BBSA A

Top scorer -- K. Jayakumar (BBSA B) - 5 goals.

Man of the Match -- Mohd Fizree B Aazman (BBSA B)

Best Keeper -- Zulklifili Mohammad Sani (BBSA B)

Fair Play -- Editorial
