KUALA LUMPUR: History buffs will have an opportunity to make a visual trip to the ruins of Thailand's first major capital, Sukhotai and also the city of Ayutthaya.

The photography exhibition, Form and Emptiness by Eric Peris and Victor Chin showcases the decline of the old city and offers a glimpse of the many monuments and religious structures built during the country's "golden age" of the 13th and 14th century.

There are images of desecrated Buddhist statues found in Ayutthaya, believed to be from the 14th century.

Artist Victor Chin said: "The art in the photographs is obvious in the compositions, lines, shapes and tonal values."

He added that the 25 images on display might encourage other artists to tell stories of historical places of a bygone era and of the human condition.
