KUALA LUMPUR: The opportunity for Klang Valley families to spend a whole day out together, enjoying good food, great bargains and wholesome fun, does not come along quite often enough.
That is why many families are counting the days to tomorrow, when the Calvary Carnival 2008 at the Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort is set to excite children and adults.
Offering entertainment, bargains, games and unique sights, the carnival will be a special experience for families.
A bazaar with over 120 stalls will offer food, games, rare items, clothing, knick-knacks and jumble sales to attract die-hard bargain hunters. Games, with numerous prizes to be won, will engage children and the young-at-heart and arrangments have also been made for an exotic animal exhibition to delight visitors.
One of the highlights of the show will be popular singer Patrick Leong and Brian John Yim who will entertain the crowd.
More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the carnival, dubbed a "big family day" for all Malaysians. Admission is free
Organised by the Calvary Church of Kuala Lumpur, this year's carnival follows the successful 2006 event, which attracted over 8,000 visitors.
"More than 2,500 volunteers from the church have given their time, talent and energy to help make this carnival a success. This is an experience that you and your family should not miss," said Calvary Carnival 2008 organising committee advisor, associate pastor Raymond Yong.
The carnival's objective is to bring about a greater awareness to the public concerning the building of the educational, training and multi-purpose Calvary Convention Centre in Bukit Jalil.
The centre, the first of its kind in Malaysia, is dedicated to the pursuit of holistic activities which include the hosting of international, regional and national conventions, banquets, seminars, musicals and creative arts productions. It is also devoted to education and vocational training and spiritual development that aim to develop youth into exemplary citizens of Malaysia.
The centre is currently under construction and will be completed by 2010.
The carnival is also a response to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's call for Malaysians to spend more quality time with their families and instill good moral values in their children.
