Let there be light and water, says MB
SEREMBAN: Good news for people living in rural areas and Orang Asli settlements here: they will have electricity and water supply in two years.
This is the promise made by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
"The matter has been discussed in the recent National Economic Action Council meeting and based on the reports, only a small percentage of villages and rural areas in the state are now without such amenities," he said.
These places include villages in Kuala Lukut, Air Kuning and Sua Betong in Port Dickson and Orang Asli settlements in Jelebu and Rembau.
Most of these were traditional villages situated away from the main roads and efforts were being made to bring power and piped water to them as soon as possible, he said.
"Although there are a few villages that have difficulties getting clean water, the government will find alternatives including supplying generators to pump water from the hilly areas to the villages.
"We may also build water treatment plants in these areas to ensure there is always clean water for the villagers," he said.
