SHAH ALAM: Sharina Shaari of Kraftangan Malaysia was given the honour of "printing" newspapers at Balai Berita 2 recently.

Sharina, invited to "get the newspaper running," was part of a group of 300 executives from the advertising companies making an educational visit to the printing plant of the New Straits Times Press in Bukit Jelutong.

She was asked to press the start button to print the Nov 15 edition of the media group's newspapers.

The visitors were briefed by NSTP sales division head Edwin Chard on the process of news publishing, from news gathering and advertising to the printing stage.

Participants were given a two-hour tour of the printing plant and they also visited the distribution rooms for newspapers..

Also present were NSTP chief executive officer Datuk Anthony Firdauz Bujang, advertising director Badrul Hisham Mahzan, production director Tun Ibrahim Mohd Jafri and senior manager Aszman Kasmani.

UO Superstore's advertising and promotional senior supervisor Mohamad Zairi Saleh said the visit to Balai Berita 2 gave the advertising folks a better knowledge of the newspaper industry.
