KUALA LUMPUR: This month, many Muslim parents are seeing their young children begin fasting for the first time.

As such, they must bear in mind the special requirements of growing children during this period.

It is important for children to stay well-nourished during the fasting months due to the changes in the amount of daily food intake.

"This initial journey will be made easier with Ovaltine with Power 10, which contains all the essential vitamins and minerals that a child would need," said Kong Mun Keen, sales and marketing manager of Associated British Food & Beverages Ltd.

"Kids who are just starting to fast will need all the nutrition they can get. Ovaltine can help them during this adjustment period and ensure they remain active and alert throughout the fasting period," he added.

F&N Dairies (M) Sdn Bhd and AB Food & Beverages (Thailand) Ltd recently joined hands to bring early festive cheer to the less fortunate. The two companies gave away RM20,000 worth of Ovaltine products to the orphans and single mothers from four homes -- Asrama Damai Anak Yatim Kuang, Rumah Nur Hikmah, Rumah Anak Yatim Darul Izzah and Persatuan Ibu Tunggal Negeri Kelantan (Sri Kandi Waja).

Dubbed "Kempen Prihatin Sejahtera Puasa Bersama Ovaltine," the initiative saw 40 inmates of these homes also treated to Ovaltine cookies and entertained by a magician who sculpted balloons for the children to take home.
