THIS month, Cinnamon Coffee House bustles with activity as there are cooking stations set up all over the outlet and the smell of kampung cooking fills the air.

Apart from the food and open kitchens lined up along one side of the coffee-house, there are stalls and an island table filled with all kinds of food.

But the focus for Ramadan is the repertoire of kampung style favourites by the five resident chefs — Zaliha Asmael, Muzri Karim, Sharusmizal Mohamed Salleh, Mohd Yusof Abdul Lafit and Mohamad Fadzli Mohamad Fauzi.

Together they have come up with a menu that includes ayam rendang minang, pucuk ubi, rending rembau, ikam sembilang masak lemak tempoyak, sup ekor asam pedas, daging rendang tok wan and siput sedut masak lemak, a dish that is not often found in buffet line-ups.

The chefs have their version of bubur lambuk too. This beef congee, an all-time favourite for berbuka puasa, is well-flavoured with spices and topped with browned shallots and peanuts. It finishes fast but don’t worry as the pot is constantly topped up through the evening.

There are international offerings as well — from Japanese, Indian, Chinese to Middle-Eastern fare. Prepared by a Middle-Eastern chef, foods like mehshi (stuffed vine leaves), lamb kofta, chicken with prunes and whole chickpeas with eggplant are a delectable treat.

In another corner, bukhari rice with carved lamb slices, potato wedges and eggplant look irresistible and tastes equally so.

You can have sushi, sashimi, dim sum, noodles and lok-lok steamboat (skewers of seafood) as well as tandoori chicken, fish, kebabs as well as breads. Satay comes with three choices of lamb, chicken and beef. The lamb satay is so good you’d go back for seconds and thirds.

Finish the meal with a wide assortment of beverages, desserts, cakes and kuih muih. Or dip fruit and marshmallows in the chocolate fountain for an indulgent end to the meal.

After dinner, watch batik painting demonstrations held at the concourse area and pick up a piece or two of authentic batik cloth as gifts for your friends and family.

At the deli counter, you can buy the Ramadan Special Kurma Layer Cake (RM70++), freshly baked daily.

Surau facilities are available. The Ramadan buffet dinner is priced at RM98++ (adult) and RM49++ (child 4-12 years).
